Role Type: 12 month FTC (Maternity Cover)
Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Head of Resourcing is responsible for driving and managing resourcing performance within the Digital Transformation (DT) department.
This role focuses on optimising utilisation rates and working through Capability Leads to ensure current and future workforce composition will support financial expectations across the portfolio. This position is pivotal in ensuring projects are delivered in line with the agreed budget and annual business plan through meticulous monitoring and management of our project portfolio, with a particular focus on negotiating and maximising margin on our associates and permanent staff.
The approach to resourcing—including the issuance of contracts to associates and the management of subcontractors—is critical to our ability to start projects on time and recognise revenue. The Head of Resourcing works with Capability Leads and Project Directors to ensure we are maximising gross margin (GM).
Responsibilities
- Serve as a champion for Resourcing across the division and the wider group.
- Collaborate with Capability Leads and Heads of to plan and resource upcoming projects.
- Manage the internal and external Resourcing community, including permanent staff and a network of associates and subcontractors.
- Inform Leadership: Work with the Chief Operating Officer and the Consulting Leadership team to keep them informed of resourcing performance and potential issues.
- Capacity Management: Take responsibility for the capacity management of the digital transformation department and work with capability leads and the people team to develop workforce plans.
- Optimise Utilisation: Actively work to optimize overall utilization within the consultancy division, report on issues, and support remediation.
- Associate Community: Own, grow, and nurture the community of associates and work with the recruitment team to maintain a strong pipeline.
- Project Mobilisation: Proactively support the achievement of growth targets by ensuring teams are mobilized in a timely manner to deliver on project gross margin and quality expectations.
- Forecasting: Manage certinia forecasts, capturing relevant skills, capabilities, experience, delivery, availability, and project history.
- Stakeholder Relationships: Build and maintain key internal stakeholder relationships for project requirements and act as a key point of contact.
- Strategic Planning: Understand current and future project requirements and pipeline resources accordingly.
- Best Practices: Work with key stakeholders to develop and own resourcing best practices and standards, ensuring they are implemented consistently.
- Line Management: Manage the team effectively using a coaching style, supporting team members in achieving objectives and career progression in line with the Performance Management Framework.
- Continuous Improvement: Run regular internal and external retrospectives to ensure learning is captured and incorporated into resourcing.
Dimensions
Reporting Structure: The Head of Resourcing reports to the Chief Operating Officer. The role is part of the Client Services Delivery Leadership team.
Team Collaboration: This role works in close collaboration with the Consulting Leadership Team, Recruitment Teams, Client Services Team, Delivery teams, Capability Leads, and operational leads from other divisions.
Team Management: The role involves managing the resourcing community, which includes both internal staff and a network of associates. The individual will line manage their team, including hiring, appraisals, 1:1s, and managing performance.
Scope of Responsibility: The role's core responsibility is to support the growth of permanent staff and associates to build successful project delivery teams. This includes capacity management for DT and optimising utilisation and role GM. The role is crucial for TPXimpact's continued high-quality delivery and future growth.
Strategic Impact: The position is key to TPXimpact's ambitious growth plans. The role is responsible for ensuring teams are mobilised in a timely manner to achieve growth targets.
Essential skills
- A strong track record of developing and implementing scalable resourcing strategies that align with company growth objectives.
- Extensive experience in managing both permanent employees and a large community of contractors or associates.
- Expertise in capacity planning, utilisation management, and workforce development.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and manage a team, with a focus on coaching and career progression.
- Collaborative approach, with experience working across various business functions including client services, delivery, and HR/People teams.
- Technical Proficiency: Skilled with resourcing and project management software, data analysis (interpreting capacity/utilisation), and understanding IR35/associate contracting processes.
- Communication: Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to generate and analyze monthly performance reports for senior leadership.
