R· Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen
· Provide support and training to any young people on work placement in the kitchen – working towards targets and monitoring outcomes.
· Oversee the opening up and closing down of the kitchen on your working days.
· Maintain excellent food hygiene and safety standards.
· Complete kitchen paperwork in accordance with SSBB along with kitchen risk assessments and monthly reporting to the EHC on items such as food control, staff control and sales.
· Work closely with the Café Co-Ordinator and EHC to plan menus and dish development.
· Source ingredients and build strong relationships with local suppliers and producers.
· Review and oversee the maintenance of kitchen equipment.
· Work closely with the Café Co-Ordinator and EHC to develop and maintain excellent food standards including the use of local and ethical produce.
· To maintain competitor awareness.
· Develop and implement a varied catering menu for in-house and external events.
- Experience with costings and allergen management.
Summary
As the Head Chef, you will lead the Ouseburn Farm kitchen team in delivering exceptional dining experiences while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and quality. Reporting directly to the Executive Chef, you will utilise your core skills in food preparation, cooking, and kitchen management to oversee kitchen operations. Your skills in supervising and team management will foster a collaborative environment, enhancing productivity and creativity. With your extensive culinary experience and a commitment to excellence, you will play a vital role in shaping the menu and maintaining the cafe's reputation for outstanding dishes.

- Extensive culinary experience with a strong background in food preparation and cooking techniques.
- Proven leadership skills with experience in kitchen management and team supervision.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and practices.
- Demonstrated ability to manage food production in a high quality establishment .

- Excellent listening skills with a calm and patient manner to support our young people on work placement FOH.
