About the role/family: SENNIES is excited to support a family of four with two young children: a nearly 3-year-old daughter and a 5-year-old son. While neither child has a formal SEND diagnosis, B5 can sometimes present with disruptive behaviour at his Montessori nursery, where the SEND teacher provides additional support. He also attends weekly play therapy.
The family are seeking a full-time Sennie with high emotional intelligence, patience, and empathy to support both children, particularly B5, in managing occasional challenging behaviour. The role will involve creating a calm, nurturing, and child-led environment, maintaining gentle yet firm boundaries, and supporting the children’s daily routines, play, learning, outdoor exploration, and the preparation of nutritious meals.
The Sennie will reinforce strategies introduced at nursery and in play therapy, helping B5 develop self-regulation, social skills, and confidence. They will also engage G3 in age-appropriate activities and support both children in exploration, imaginative play, outdoor experiences, and early learning opportunities.
This position offers live-in accommodation across the family’s two homes: a newly renovated studio with its own bathroom and separate entrance in London, and a separate annexe in the countryside. The ideal candidate will be adaptable, proactive, and able to maintain consistency and structure while fostering a warm, playful, and nurturing environment.
By providing consistent support, modelling positive behaviours, encouraging outdoor play, and reinforcing therapeutic techniques, the Sennie will play a key role in helping both children thrive emotionally, socially, and developmentally.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide attentive, nurturing care for B5 and G3, creating a calm, safe, and engaging environment that supports their emotional and developmental needs.
- Support B5 with emotional regulation and social development, using patient guidance, clear boundaries, and age-appropriate strategies to help him manage big feelings and interactions with peers.
- Encourage positive social interaction for both children through play, modelling communication skills, and gently supporting turn-taking and cooperation.
- Plan and deliver stimulating, child-led activities, with a strong focus on outdoor play, music, creativity, and physical movement.
- Promote routine and consistency while remaining flexible to meet each child’s individual needs and moods.
- Work in partnership with parents and relevant professionals, including supporting continuity around B5’s play therapy strategies where appropriate.
- Support early learning through play, conversation, and exploration, helping both children build confidence, independence, and curiosity.
- Manage daily care tasks such as meals, naps, hygiene, and transitions between activities in a calm and organised manner.
