Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated, organised, and compassionate Dental Nurse / Receptionist to join our practice. This dual-role position involves supporting the dental team with clinical procedures while also managing front desk responsibilities and delivering excellent patient service.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Duties (Dental Nurse)
- Assist the dentist during a range of dental procedures
- Prepare and sterilise instruments and equipment in line with infection control standards
- Ensure the surgery is clean, well-stocked, and ready for each patient
- Provide reassurance and support to patients before, during, and after treatment
- Maintain accurate patient records and clinical notes
- Follow all health and safety, cross-infection, and decontamination procedures
- Process X-rays and assist with radiography (if qualified)
- Manage stock control and order dental supplies when required
Reception Duties
- Greet and welcome patients in a professional and friendly manner
- Manage appointment scheduling, cancellations, and recalls
- Answer phone calls and respond to patient enquiries
- Handle patient records and update information accurately
- Process payments and assist with billing queries
- Maintain a clean, organised, and welcoming reception area
Requirements
- Qualified Dental Nurse or currently working towards a recognised dental nursing qualification
- Registration with the General Dental Council (GDC) or eligibility to register
- Previous reception or customer service experience preferred
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
- A calm and professional manner, especially with anxious patients
