At Open Door Environmental Education we are pursuing a dedicated and compassionate Senior Education Support Worker to join our specialised educational team. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting children with diverse needs, including those with autism, ADHD and SEMH needs, within a nurturing learning environment. Job Purpose
● Provide one-to-one and group support for young people through mentoring and tailored guidance
● Ensure all young people receive appropriate support and ongoing monitoring
● Support young people with personal, social, and educational development, particularly those who are underachieving, disengaged, or require behaviour support
● Work collaboratively with colleagues to help young people engage fully with their provision and make progress
● Deliver a wraparound service that identifies and addresses barriers to engagement for all young people
Duties and Responsibilities
● Provide support for young people enrolled at Open Door Environmental Education.
- ○ This includes transporting young people daily, supporting them in the community and in educational settings as required, and ensuring they receive a healthy, nutritious lunch
- ○ Support must be delivered in line with a pre-agreed plan, working closely with staff and within the line management structure. Programmes will be reviewed regularly in partnership with named school staff, social workers, parents/carers, and other relevant professionals
● Manage poor behaviour or disengagement in line with relevant policies and procedures
● Proactively arrange a wide range of projects and activities that help young people work towards their agreed outcomes
● Develop accredited programmes and projects that enable young people to participate and make progress
● Complete the administrative tasks needed to ensure young people’s work meets accreditation requirements
● Work with young people, staff, external agencies, and parents/carers to ensure barriers to learning are identified and addressed effectively
● Follow the safeguarding policy at all times, ensuring concerns are prioritised and reported appropriately
● Contribute to reports as required
● Attend relevant meetings as appropriate
● Liaise with parents/carers, school staff, and external agencies to provide coordinated support for young people attending the provision
● Promote inclusive practice across the provision
● Act as a key worker for young people when assigned
● Develop knowledge of a range of learning support needs and build an understanding of the specific needs of the young people supported
● Support the management team and other professionals, where appropriate, in planning suitable support programmes for young people
● Support and mentor future Educational Support Workers
● Provide pastoral care to help young people feel safe, secure, and supported
● Supervise and support young people to ensure their safety and access to learning activities, helping them learn effectively both independently and in group settings.
● Build constructive relationships and communicate effectively with staff, other professionals, agencies, and parents/carers
● Comply with policies and procedures relating to child protection, health and safety, security, confidentiality, data protection and equal opportunities, reporting any concerns to the appropriate person
● Comply with Keeping Children Safe in Education
● Take part in training, learning activities, and professional development as required.
● Recognise personal strengths and areas of expertise and use them to support and advise others
● Work flexibly across different locations as required
● Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade and scope of the post, as requested by management
