We are seeking a Head of Maths who combines strong subject expertise with clarity of vision and the drive to secure exceptional outcomes for every student.
As Head of Maths, you will lead a core subject that has a direct impact on students’ life chances. You will shape the curriculum, develop teaching practice and build a culture of high expectations where all students can succeed.
You will work closely with senior leaders to drive improvement, ensuring that the department delivers consistently strong outcomes and provides a high-quality learning experience for every student.

Set a clear and ambitious vision for Maths across the school
- Lead curriculum development to ensure it is rigorous, coherent and knowledge-rich
- Use assessment and performance data to drive improvement and close attainment gaps
- Evaluate teaching and learning, implementing strategies that secure measurable impact
- Contribute to whole-school improvement priorities

Model excellent classroom practice through high-quality teaching
- Ensure consistently strong teaching across the department
- Embed effective assessment practices to support progress and retention
- Create a disciplined, focused and purposeful learning environment

Lead, support and develop staff within the Mathematics department
- Build a collaborative and accountable team culture
- Provide coaching, feedback and professional development opportunities
- Identify and develop future leaders

Secure strong outcomes across Key Stages 3 and 4, and where applicable Key Stage 5
- Ensure all students, regardless of starting point, make strong progress
- Champion high expectations for behaviour, effort and academic achievement
- Implement targeted interventions that have a clear impact

Play an active role in the wider life of the school
- Contribute to the school’s culture of ambition, perseverance and unity
- Build strong relationships with students, staff and families
- Support extracurricular opportunities that enrich students’ experiences

Has a strong academic background in Maths and holds Qualified Teacher Status
- Is an excellent classroom practitioner with a track record of strong outcomes
- Has the ability to lead and inspire others
