Waste Services is seeking a motivated and reliable Waste Operative Loader to join our Recycling Collections Team.
Working as part of a collection crew, you will help deliver an essential public service by collecting recycling materials from households across North Lincolnshire.
This is a physically demanding role that involves working outdoors in all weather conditions. The successful candidate will be committed to providing excellent customer service, maintaining high standards of health and safety, and supporting the Council's recycling objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Collect wheeled bins, containing recyclable materials from households across North Lincolnshire.
- Sort recyclable materials and ensure correct waste types are presented for collection.
- Identify contaminated materials and issue rejection notices where necessary.
- Provide advice and information to residents regarding recycling schemes and services.
- Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn correctly and used appropriately.
- Work in accordance with all health and safety procedures and safe systems of work.
- Undertake all aspects of loading duties associated with recycling collection rounds.
- Attend training, engagement and development sessions when required, including occasional attendance on a non-working weekday with prior notice.
- Work occasional Saturdays to provide collection services in lieu of Bank Holidays.
About You:
There are no formal qualifications required for this role. Previous experience within the waste, recycling, environmental or logistics sectors would be advantageous but is not essential, as full training will be provided.
You will ideally have:
- A strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- The ability to undertake physically demanding work.
- Good communication and customer service skills.
- An understanding of health and safety responsibilities.
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- An interest in environmental services and recycling.
