The Crown Prosecution Service is recruiting to a number of operational support roles across England and Wales. These are Administrative Officers, Advocacy Clerking Assistants, Casework Assistants, Fees Clerks and Victim Liaison Assistants.
Whether supporting case progression, providing administrative support, communicating with victims, or processing financial information, all of these roles play an important part in helping the Crown Prosecution Service operate effectively and maintain public confidence in our work.
About the Crown Prosecution Service
At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the utmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.
About the roles
Administrative Officer
- Administrative Officers provide vital support to departments across the organisation. You draft, monitor and record correspondence, helping us to work effectively and efficiently. You are the first point of contact for your team, responding professionally to queries and promptly escalating any issues.
Advocacy Clerking Assistant
- As an Advocacy Clerking Assistant, you provide administrative support to the Crown Advocacy Unit. You prepare and manage Crown Court lists and ensure cases are allocated and briefed to an advocate. You communicate by phone and email with Crown Advocates, paralegals, chambers and other stakeholders to help secure appropriate advocacy cover. You maintain diary and database records, manage inbox activity, produce standard correspondence and support the smooth running of the unit.
Casework Assistant
- Casework Assistants have a crucial role helping us to secure justice for victims of crime. You support our prosecution teams by preparing case files and serving documents for hearings in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. You are the first point of contact for the police and other criminal justice partners, working together to ensure all evidence and facts relating to a case are recorded.
Fees Clerk
- As a Fees Clerk, you process fee claims and invoices in line with deadlines, service standards and relevant guidance. You manage financial information, produce reports, investigate discrepancies and maintain records of expenditure and payments. You handle enquiries while building effective working relationships with internal teams and external partners.
Victim Liaison Assistant
- As a Victim Liaison Assistant, you are a key point of contact for victims. You handle a varied caseload and work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure victims are kept informed and supported throughout the prosecution process. You draft written correspondence, communicate with victims by the designated method of contact, respond to enquiries and complaints, and arrange meetings where appropriate.
About you
You don’t need specific qualifications or experience to apply – if you share our values and commitment to public service, we’d like to hear from you. We provide full training and a range of learning and development opportunities to support your career progression.
