The Role
We are looking for an organised, proactive, and solutions-focused Transport Planner to join our busy operations team.
This is a key role within the business, responsible for coordinating the daily movement of plant and machinery to and from customer sites. You will ensure deliveries and collections are carried out efficiently, safely, and in line with compliance requirements — while maintaining the highest standards of customer service.
This is a fast-paced position that requires strong planning ability, attention to detail, and the confidence to make decisions under pressure.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and schedule daily deliveries and collections of plant equipment
- Coordinate drivers, vehicles, and routes to maximise efficiency and control costs
- Ensure compliance with driver hours, transport legislation, and company policies
- Liaise closely with customers, drivers, and the operations team to ensure smooth service delivery
- Monitor vehicle tracking systems and respond proactively to any delays or issues
- Handle customer enquiries regarding delivery times and logistics in a professional manner
- Maintain accurate records and transport documentation
- Anticipate potential challenges and implement effective solutions
Requirements
- Previous experience in a transport planning, logistics, or fleet coordination role (plant hire experience advantageous)
- Strong geographical knowledge and route planning ability
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work calmly and effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- IT literate, with experience using planning systems and Microsoft Office
- Good understanding of transport compliance, driver hours, and relevant legislation
