We’re looking for someone who can lead from the front, keep standards high and help create a positive, hardworking kitchen environment. This is a hands-on role — you won’t just be managing the kitchen from the sidelines. You’ll be frying, preparing, plating up and supporting your team through busy services.
About the role:
As Kitchen Manager, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day running of our kitchen and the development of your team.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading, training and developing the kitchen team.
- Creating a positive, supportive and hardworking team environment.
- Ensuring food is prepared, cooked and presented to Harbour Lights' high standards.
- Managing kitchen cleanliness, organisation and food safety standards
- Managing staffing levels and helping to arrange cover when there is illness or a shortfall in the team.
- Stepping in to cover shifts where necessary.
- Taking responsibility for allergen management and ensuring allergen information is kept accurate and up to date, with support from the General Manager.
- Working closely with the wider management team to continually improve how we operate.
What we're looking for
The ideal candidate will:
Have previous management or supervisory experience within a busy kitchen or hospitality environment.
Be comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-volume kitchen.
Be a strong leader who enjoys developing and supporting a team.
Have high standards when it comes to food quality, cleanliness and organisation.
Be reliable, hardworking and willing to get stuck in.
Be confident dealing with staffing challenges and making decisions when needed.
Have a good understanding of food safety and allergen management, or be willing to develop this knowledge.
Be able to work a mixture of daytimes, evenings and weekends.
Have excellent communication skills and work well as part of a wider management team.
Bring a positive attitude, personality and, of course, big smiles!
