Caafi Health CIC is a Bristol based organisation focusing on minoritised communities to reduce health inequalities. Working in partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support we are launching Walking With You, a two year project tackling cancer care inequalities across Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire (BNSSG).
This role is the community heart of the project. You will lead outreach and engagement, run co-design activity with people living with and beyond cancer, coordinate our lived experience advisory group, and build the partnerships that make the work possible. At 11.25 hours per week it suits someone with existing community standing, and we are open to how the hours are arranged.
Training and supervision, flexible working, 25 days leave plus bank holidays pro rata, and a workplace pension.
Responsibilites
- Lead community outreach and engagement, including wellbeing clinics and awareness sessions
- Convene a paid lived experience design group, and recruit and train community advocates
- Coordinate co-design of advocacy tools and patient information for multilingual use
- Build relationships with VCSE partners, faith and community groups, and NHS colleagues
- Arrange interpretation, accessibility provision and participant expenses so people can take part
- Support the steering group, monitoring and quarterly reporting
Requirements
Essential
- Experience of community engagement or outreach with minoritised communities
- Strong coordination skills, with the ability to run projects independently with limited supervision
- Experience of building partnerships across community, voluntary or statutory organisations
- Understanding of the barriers to accessing health services: language, stigma, mistrust and cost
- Confident facilitating groups, including sessions on sensitive health topics
- Able to travel across Bristol and work flexibly. Enhanced DBS clearance required, which we will arrange
Desirable
- Ability to speak a community language such as Somali, Arabic, Urdu, Bengali or Tigrinya
- Experience of health related community work, health promotion or peer support
- Experience of co-design, participatory methods or reporting to funders
