We have an exciting opportunity for an Engineer to join our Technical team. The Jelson group of companies has a wide range of businesses with our main business being construction (new homes, industrial and commercial), also transport, manufacturing, hospitality, garages and plumbing/electrical companies.
Job Summary:
To ensure every development is technically ready for construction, delivered safely, compliantly, and efficiently, enabling the business to build high-quality homes on programme and within budget.
To provide civil engineering support for the Group’s development projects. Supporting site-based teams with technical queries and provide practical engineering solutions in a timely manner.
Key Responsibilities:
- Civil engineering schemes are delivered on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards, enabling successful project delivery across all developments.
- Statutory approvals from highways, drainage and other adopting authorities are negotiated and secured in line with project programmes, ensuring construction can proceed without avoidable delays.
- Engineering designs consistently meet all relevant legislation, technical standards and adopting authority requirements, reducing compliance risks and the need for redesign.
- Project management of group projects including residential, commercial and industrial schemes
- Engineering specifications provide practical, buildable and cost-effective solutions that optimise value while maintaining quality, compliance and long-term performance.
- External engineering consultants deliver coordinated, high-quality designs that meet project requirements, are issued on time, and minimise site queries, delays and rework.
- Ensure safe working practices are followed at all times
- Undertake additional duties appropriate to the role, skills, and level of competence as reasonably requested.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of Health & Safety requirements including emergency procedures and hazard reporting
- Ensure full compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Relevant Qualifications or Experience Required:
- HNC/HND in Civil Engineering, Construction or equivalent relevant experience.
- Competent in AutoCAD & civil engineering/drainage design software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in the design and technical approval of highway and drainage infrastructure, including S38, S278 and S104 agreements.
- Good understanding of industry standards and guidance
