Job description is pending Royal College approval
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust is seeking to appoint 2 Specialty doctors for the Inpatient service at Stockport (1 Specialty doctor for female inpatient ward and 1 Specialty doctor for male inpatient ward).
The Stockport general adult psychiatry service (generally for people aged 16 and over) previously operated under a ‘sector’ model, whereby each Consultant covered a geographic area of Stockport, covering both the community and inpatient setting. This has recently changed, and currently two Consultants will cover the inpatient psychiatry wards at Stepping Hill Hospital, Arden and Norbury ward, with other Consultants working in the community with the Community Mental Health Teams (CMHT).
These are new posts to provide consistent and experienced medical support to the inpatient unit.
Duties will consist of assessing patients admitted to the inpatient ward and where appropriate initiating treatment. The appointed doctors will be expected to join the ward round with the team, conduct physical health examination and monitor the patients on the ward. They will be expected to monitor the treatment plans as outlined by the MDT and report to the ward consultant.
