The Lock Keepers Cottage Tearoom is looking for an experienced and motivated Manager to lead our small, friendly team. We are a social enterprise, and every visit to our tearoom helps support the work we do within our local community. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who takes pride in delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining the highest standards and helping a popular local business continue to grow while making a real difference.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, support and motivate our friendly team, creating a positive and welcoming working environment.
- Ensure excellent customer service is delivered consistently to every visitor.
- Maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, food hygiene and presentation throughout the tearoom.
- Ensure full compliance with food safety, allergen legislation and Health & Safety requirements.
- Complete and maintain all required food safety, HACCP, allergen and hygiene documentation accurately.
- Plan staff rotas to ensure appropriate cover during busy and quieter trading periods while managing staffing costs effectively.
- Support recruitment, induction and ongoing training of team members.
- Maintain stock levels and minimise waste through effective stock management.
- Help develop the business by identifying new opportunities, seasonal promotions and events.
- Grow the tearoom's social media presence by creating engaging content and promoting our food, location and events.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses, other community groups and tourism partners to encourage visitors to the area.
- Monitor daily performance, helping to achieve sales targets and continually improve the customer experience.
- Lead by example, remaining hands-on and willing to support all aspects of the day-to-day running of the tearoom when required.
We're Looking For Someone Who:
- Has previous experience in hospitality, catering or café management.
- Is a confident and supportive team leader.
- Has excellent organisational and communication skills.
- Works well under pressure and can prioritise effectively.
- Has a comprehensive understanding of food hygiene, allergen management and Health & Safety regulations.
- Is enthusiastic about delivering outstanding customer service.
- Is proactive, reliable and takes pride in maintaining high standards.
- Is comfortable using social media to promote the business.
- Shares our passion for supporting the local community and helping our social enterprise continue to flourish.
