The Student Services Coordinator (Experience) plays a key role in delivering a high-quality, inclusive, and integrated student experience across York Law School and Department of Sociology. You will help create a supportive, engaging, and connected student journey, enabling students to thrive from enrolment through to graduation.
Working in partnership with the Student Services Manager and Student Administration Manager, you will coordinate a range of operational activities relating to student engagement, recruitment, support, and community development. You will contribute to the design and delivery of initiatives that enhance the student experience, promote wellbeing and engagement, and foster a strong sense of belonging within the academic community.
You will need excellent organisational and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, respond effectively to changing demands, and work to tight deadlines. A commitment to delivering an outstanding level of customer service is essential, alongside a proactive, collaborative, and solutions-focused approach.
Flexibility is an important aspect of the role. All members of the Student Services Team are expected to support colleagues across the team, Faculty, and wider University as required, particularly during periods of peak activity or staff absence.
The Faculty operates a flexible working environment, including a flexi-time scheme. Subject to operational requirements and successful completion of probation, opportunities for some hybrid / remote working may also be available, with the majority of time spent working on campus.
This is a full time role with job share applications considered.
Coordinating delivery of student experience activity across the portfolio
Supporting student events e.g. Open Days, Post Offer Visit Days, Induction and Graduation
Leading on the monitoring of student engagement and initiating support and wellbeing processes when required
Contribute to Departmental communication strategies by leading on student communications, including developing Social Media content.
Provide guidance and support to students experiencing low-level academic or personal wellbeing concerns
Experience of working in a student services, student support or higher education administrative environment, with knowledge of student engagement and student experience activity.
Ability to respond positively to change, supporting colleagues and students sensitively and constructively during periods of transition
Experience of coordinating operational processes or defined service areas, including the ability to organise workloads, prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a busy environment
Ability to support and coordinate team workloads to ensure services and processes are delivered effectively.
Experience of supporting students while maintaining confidentiality and sensitivity, including applying judgement and referring to specialist services where appropriate.
