Job We are looking for a dedicated, committed driver to operate one of our Class 1 Vehicles transporting agricultural plant machinery and moffett forklifts
Primary Duties: Collecting plant machinery from farms as set out by Transport Manager
Always ensuring Security of load and being responsible for bird welfare
Completing all necessary legal paperwork as required (Animal Transport Certificates, Defect Sheets)
Communicating effectively with Transport Manager about delays and issues
This job involves loading in and out of sheds, so familiarity with this is a bonus
Always Practicing good housekeeping and Health and Safety
Complying with drivers’ hours regulations
Working hours will vary but will mainly be night runs or early morning runs
Flexibility is a must as hours will vary depending on requirements
Nights out required as per needs of the business
Other class 1 duties may be required as per needs of the business
Flexibility in hours is a must, as the poultry industry is an ever-changing constant, this may include weekend working. Ideal for a driver looking for part-time work, as the loads change from week to week.

We are seeking a reliable and experienced Part-Time Class 1 Driver specialising in live bird transportation. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely delivering live birds to various locations, ensuring the highest standards of animal welfare and compliance with transportation regulations. This role offers flexible hours suitable for individuals with prior driving experience in a commercial setting, particularly those familiar with flatbed and delivery operations.
Responsibilities
- Operate flatbed lorries and other commercial vehicles to transport live birds efficiently and safely.
- Ensure the secure loading and unloading of live birds, adhering to animal welfare standards.
- Plan and follow optimal delivery routes, maintaining punctuality and efficiency.
- Conduct vehicle inspections before and after journeys, reporting any maintenance issues promptly.
- Maintain accurate records of deliveries, including delivery times, routes, and any incidents during transit.
- Comply with all relevant road safety regulations, transportation laws, and company policies.
- Handle live birds with care throughout the entire transportation process to minimise stress or injury.
Skills
- Proven experience as a delivery driver, preferably within a commercial or livestock transport environment.
- Familiarity with flatbed lorry operation and handling of specialised cargo such as live animals.
- Strong driving skills with a clean driving record and valid driving licence suitable for Class 1 vehicles.
- Excellent organisational skills to plan routes effectively and ensure timely deliveries.
- Ability to handle live animals responsibly, demonstrating patience and compassion.
