Job Overview
We are looking for a kind, patient and trustworthy person to provide companionship and support to an elderly lady living at home with dementia.
The role is primarily about spending time with her in her own home, keeping her company and making sure she is comfortable and safe, while allowing her daughter and son-in law some much needed time to themselves.
Duties will include:
Sitting and chatting with her and providing friendly companionship
Helping her feel settled and reassured
Making a cup of tea or preparing a light snack if needed
Encouraging simple activities such as watching TV, listening to music, looking through photographs, playing a game or working on a jigsaw puzzle
Being attentive to her needs and general wellbeing
Providing reassurance and a calm presence
Letting the family know of any concerns or changes you notice
This is not a heavy personal care tole. We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with older people and understands that dementia can mean repetition, confusion or changes in mood.
Pay: From £14.50 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
