Facilities Technician – Plumbing & Mechanical
Location: Telford
Salary: £34,000 per annum
Working Hours: Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00
Hours: 40 hours per week
The Role
We are recruiting for a Facilities Technician with a plumbing and mechanical background to support the maintenance and operation of a busy manufacturing facility in Telford.
The successful candidate will provide hands-on technical support across the site, carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, plumbing and mechanical repairs, building fabric maintenance and statutory checks.
This is a varied role suited to an experienced facilities or building services professional who is comfortable working independently and responding to maintenance issues in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a high level of general facilities maintenance support.
- Install, maintain and repair plumbing and mechanical services.
- Carry out maintenance and repairs to building fabric.
- Maintain and repair fire protection systems, including sprinkler systems.
- Provide a responsive reactive maintenance service, resolving issues promptly and effectively.
- Complete planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across the facility.
- Carry out statutory inspections, checks and any required remedial work.
- Undertake installation, modifications and layout changes to building services.
- Complete project work with minimal supervision.
- Identify opportunities for improvement and follow these through to completion.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, inspections and repair activities.
- Complete general maintenance duties as required.
- Work safely and in accordance with relevant Health & Safety procedures and statutory requirements.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Minimum 2 years' experience within facilities maintenance, building services or a similar operational environment.
- Practical experience with plumbing and mechanical building services.
- Recognised plumbing qualification or equivalent relevant experience.
- Ideally apprentice trained or qualified to Level 3 in plumbing, building services or a related discipline.
- Good understanding of building services and statutory requirements.
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance.
- Experience with building fabric maintenance.
- Good IT skills for maintenance records and documentation.
- Good understanding of Health & Safety requirements.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Own transport is essential due to travel between multiple sites in Telford.
Desirable
- IOSH Working Safely qualification.
- Experience working within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Experience working with fire protection or sprinkler systems.
- Experience supporting maintenance projects and site improvements.

Working Environment
This is a hands-on facilities role requiring a good level of physical fitness and the ability to remain on your feet for extended periods.
The successful candidate will support the facilities function across the site and must be comfortable working independently while responding to a varied range of maintenance requirements.
