Warehouse Operative – £29,720 | 6-Month Contract
Location: Bamber Bridge, Preston PR5 8AD
Contract: 6 months
Shifts: Rotating shifts – 6:00am–2:00pm and 2:00pm–10:00pm
Salary: £29,770 per annum
We are looking for a reliable and motivated Warehouse Operative to join a well-established team in Bamber Bridge, Preston, on a 6-month contract. The Client is a successful multinational company, so there may be a possibility to move on to another role within the company after finishing this contract.
This is a hands-on role within a busy warehouse environment, supporting the smooth handling, storage and preparation of materials and customer orders. The ideal candidate will be organised, safety-conscious and comfortable with physical work.
You will play an important role in maintaining efficient warehouse operations, ensuring materials are handled correctly and all stock and traceability information is recorded accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Picking, handling and preparing materials for dispatch.
- Maintaining metal traceability systems using barcode scanners, lot and batch numbers.
- Operating warehouse machinery as directed.
- Driving forklift trucks when authorised and required.
- Safely moving and handling materials within the warehouse.
- Supporting loading, unloading, shipping and receiving activities where required.
- Keeping stock and storage areas organised and maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Reporting any damage to materials, equipment or property.
- Following company safety policies and procedures at all times.
- Observing and practising 6S principles.
- Working in line with BS EN ISO 9001:2008 requirements.
- Supporting other warehouse duties as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Previous warehouse experience is desirable.
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and dependable approach to work.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including manual handling.
- Self-motivated with a positive and energetic attitude.
- Flexible and willing to take on a variety of tasks.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- IT competent and confident using barcode scanning systems.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety.
- Ability to follow procedures and work accurately.
Desirable Skills & Qualifications
- Forklift Truck Licence or previous forklift experience.
- Overhead Crane Certification.
- Experience using warehouse management or stock control systems.
- Ability to read production paperwork and record accurate details.
- Previous experience within a manufacturing, logistics or materials-handling environment.
- Mechanical aptitude or experience operating warehouse machinery.
