About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and passionate Senior Residential Support Worker to join a children's residential home supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural needs.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Residential Support Worker looking to take the next step in their career or an existing Senior Support Worker seeking a new challenge within a supportive and child-focused environment.
As a Senior Residential Support Worker, you will lead shifts, mentor the staff team and help create a safe, nurturing and therapeutic home where children and young people can thrive.
Pay and benefits: Salary starts from £14.50 per hour, with £75.00 paid for each sleep-in. Overtime is available, alongside ongoing training and genuine progression opportunities within the company.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts and ensure the home operates safely and effectively.
- Support children and young people in line with their individual care plans.
- Build positive, trusting relationships using a trauma-informed approach.
- Act as a positive role model, promoting independence, resilience and positive outcomes.
- Support and mentor Residential Support Workers during shifts.
- Manage challenging behaviour using positive behaviour support and de-escalation techniques.
- Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people at all times.
- Complete daily records, incident reports and other documentation to a high standard.
- Conduct effective handovers to ensure continuity of care.
- Plan and participate in activities that support children's development and well-being.
- Work closely with external professionals, families and other stakeholders where appropriate.
- Promote high standards of care in line with Ofsted regulations and children's home standards.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Essential
- A minimum of 2 years' experience working within a children's residential home.
- Experience supporting children and young people with complex emotional and behavioural needs.
- Experience leading shifts or supporting the day-to-day running of a children's home.
- A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- The ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situations.
- A full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or an equivalent qualification.
