Head Barista – New Coffee Shop Opening

Schedule: Daytime shifts, including weekends
We are opening an exciting new coffee shop within our hotel and are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Head Barista to help us launch and lead the coffee operation.
This is a hands-on role for someone who is passionate about great coffee, excellent customer service and creating a welcoming café environment. As Head Barista, you will work closely with management to establish high standards from day one and help build a strong, friendly team.
The Role
As Head Barista, you will take responsibility for the day-to-day coffee operation and ensure every drink leaving the bar is made to a consistently high standard.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing and serving high-quality espresso-based drinks, teas and other beverages
- Setting and maintaining excellent coffee standards
- Dialling in grinders and ensuring espresso quality and consistency throughout the day
- Training, supporting and supervising other baristas
- Helping develop efficient opening, closing and service procedures
- Delivering friendly, professional and attentive customer service
- Maintaining excellent cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the coffee bar
- Monitoring coffee, milk, syrups, takeaway packaging and other stock
- Assisting with ordering and stock control
- Reducing unnecessary waste and helping manage costs
- Ensuring equipment is cleaned and maintained correctly
- Working closely with the kitchen, hotel and management teams
- Helping create a positive, organised and professional working environment
- Supporting the development of the drinks menu and seasonal specials
- Taking pride in presentation, including latte art and drink presentation
About You
We are looking for someone who:
- Has previous experience as a Head Barista, Senior Barista or experienced Barista
- Has strong knowledge of espresso preparation, milk steaming and grinder adjustment
- Can produce consistent, high-quality coffee during busy periods
- Has good latte art skills
- Is confident training and supporting other members of the team
- Is organised, reliable and comfortable taking responsibility
- Has excellent customer service and communication skills
- Understands the importance of cleanliness, presentation and attention to detail
- Can remain calm and organised during busy services
- Is genuinely passionate about coffee and hospitality
Previous experience helping to open or establish a new café or coffee operation would be an advantage.
