Overview
We are looking for a friendly and proactive Deli Counter Assistant & Supervisor to join our team. In this full time role, you'll be the face of our deli, helping customers select the best products, preparing food with care, and ensuring the counter runs smoothly. This position offers an exciting opportunity to combine hands-on food preparation with leadership responsibilities in a lively retail environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers with their selections, providing friendly advice and excellent service.
- Prepare and display a variety of deli products, including meats, cheeses, and prepared foods, following food safety standards.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli counter area, including proper food handling and storage.
- Support in managing stock levels, rotating products, and reporting shortages or issues promptly.
- Supervise team members during shifts, ensuring efficient workflow and high standards of customer service.
- Upsell products effectively by highlighting specials or complementary items to boost sales.
- Follow all health and safety regulations to ensure a safe environment for staff and customers.
Requirements
- Previous experience in food preparation, deli work, or restaurant service is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of food safety practices and handling procedures.
- Friendly, approachable and passionate about food.
- Strong communication skills to engage confidently with customers and team members who leads by example.
- Basic math skills for cash handling and inventory management.
- Experience in kitchen or culinary roles.
- Excellent time management skills to handle busy periods efficiently.
- A positive attitude with a willingness to learn new skills and support team success.
