Details of Position
We are looking for a long-term EFL cover teacher to join the team at Broadstairs English Centre, a year-round, British Council accredited language school in Broadstairs, Kent.
British Council inspectors (2024) noted strengths in staff management, academic management, learning resources, course design, teaching and safeguarding.
This role would suit an experienced teacher looking for flexible work, such as a retired teacher or someone who would value the opportunity to teach on an occasional basis.
The successful applicant will be available to step in at short notice when cover is required. This would include covering for both planned and unexpected staff absence.
The role involves teaching our innovative one- or two-week General English courses to international classes of teenagers. Students work from our in-house booklets, with schemes of work and lesson materials provided.
The successful applicant should be an enthusiastic and committed teacher who enjoys working with international groups of teenagers and is able to deliver engaging, well-structured lessons within our established programme.
As the role involves providing cover at short notice, we are particularly interested in applicants who live locally in Broadstairs or the surrounding area and can travel to the school quickly when required. This is not a residential position.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Cambridge CELTA or Trinity Cert. TESOL required
- Degree required
- At least one year of EFL teaching experience preferred
- DELTA or Trinity DipTESOL highly desirable
- Right to work in the UK
- Two referees required
- Successful applicants will need to complete a full DBS check before commencing work
- Must be eligible to work in the UK
Salary and Benefits
£51–£80 per half-day, depending on qualifications and experience.
