Lawstop Solicitors is a leading Legal Aid law firm committed to providing high-quality legal services and improving access to justice. With specialist teams across Housing, Public Law, Community Care, Education and Immigration, we are continuing to grow and are looking for an experienced and ambitious Business Manager to join our leadership team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised and commercially minded professional to play a key role in the strategic and operational management of a well-established and purpose-driven law firm.
The Role
As Business Manager, you will work closely with the Director and senior management team to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the firm. You will oversee business operations, support strategic growth, improve processes and systems, and help ensure the firm continues to meet its regulatory and contractual obligations.
You will have the opportunity to make a real impact on the future development of the firm while supporting our mission of delivering high-quality legal services to some of the most vulnerable members of society.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the day-to-day operational management of the firm.
- Support the implementation of strategic and business growth plans.
- Develop and improve operational systems, processes and efficiencies.
- Produce management information and performance reports.
- Support financial planning, budgeting and operational performance monitoring.
- Assist with Legal Aid Agency contract compliance and reporting requirements.
- Support SRA compliance, risk management and regulatory obligations.
- Manage office operations, facilities and supplier relationships.
- Oversee HR processes, recruitment, onboarding and staff development initiatives.
- Lead and support business improvement and technology projects.
- Work collaboratively with Heads of Department and support teams to achieve organisational objectives.
About You
We are looking for someone who can combine strong operational leadership with excellent organisational and people management skills.
You will ideally have:
- Experience in business, operations or practice management.
- Strong leadership and project management skills.
- Experience managing teams and organisational change.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience managing budgets and operational performance.
- The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
- Experience working within a law firm or regulated professional services environment.
- Knowledge of Legal Aid Agency contracts and processes.
- Understanding of SRA regulatory requirements and compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting audits, compliance monitoring or quality assurance programmes.
