What You'll Be Doing
As Treatment Plant Manager, you will be responsible for the safe, compliant, efficient and profitable operation of the Brownhills Treatment Plant. You will oversee all treatment activities, ensuring wastes are assessed correctly, treatment processes are controlled effectively, and output specifications are consistently achieved.
Working closely with Commercial and Operations teams, you will play a key role in identifying treatment opportunities, maximising plant performance and driving continuous improvement across the department.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Taking overall responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the Brownhills Treatment Plant
- Leading, developing and supporting Treatment Plant staff while setting clear standards for safety, performance and accountability
- Planning and coordinating plant activities, labour and resources to maximise throughput and operational efficiency
- Working closely with Commercial and Operations teams to identify suitable treatment opportunities
- Assessing waste streams for suitability and compatibility prior to processing
- Ensuring treatment activities are completed in accordance with defined operating requirements
- Maintaining control of waste movements, treatment materials, residues and outputs
- Ensuring accurate and traceable operational records are maintained
- Operating in full compliance with environmental, health & safety, quality and company management system requirements
- Monitoring plant performance, productivity, yields and key operational KPIs
- Identifying and implementing improvements to strengthen efficiency, recovery and profitability
- Coordinating maintenance activities to maximise plant availability and minimise downtime
- Raising purchase orders and ensuring costs, invoices and associated expenditure are accurately reconciled
- Maintaining effective communication with Commercial, Operations and support teams regarding plant capacity and operational priorities
- Investigating operational issues, non-conformances and process failures, implementing effective corrective actions
- Ensuring all employees are appropriately trained, competent and supported in their roles
- Driving continuous improvement across plant processes, working practices, housekeeping standards and overall operational performance
This is a hands-on management role that combines technical expertise, operational leadership, commercial awareness and continuous improvement.
Working Hours
40 hours per week
8:30am to 5:00pm
Who We're Looking For:
Essential
- Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
- Practical process experience within chemical treatment, waste treatment, chemical processing or a similar industrial environment
- Strong technical understanding of chemical treatment processes, waste compatibility and process control
- Experience working within a regulated process or industrial environment
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety and environmental compliance requirements
- Competent IT and administrative skills, including operational reporting, purchase orders and cost reconciliation
- Ability to assess technical issues and make sound operational decisions
- Strong communication and organisational skills
