Job Overview
Our client is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Dental Nursing Assessor to join their team to support, encourage and mentor apprentices currently studying the Level 3 Diploma in Dental Nursing with City and Guilds as part of their apprenticeship provision.
The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing and supporting dental nursing students, ensuring they meet required standards and develop essential skills. This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the professional growth of future dental nurses while maintaining high standards of patient care and education. The position is paid and suitable for individuals with a passion for dental education and training. You will be home based 2 - 3 days a week and then be out visiting Dental practices carrying out observations for the remainder of the week. The position ideally will be full time but 4 days a week will be considered. The successful applicant must be able to use their own initiative, work remotely and as part of a team. You must be an experienced and qualified dental nurse assessor or have both dental nurse and assessor qualifications and looking to become an assessor.
Duties
- Conduct assessments of dental nursing students in accordance with recognised standards and frameworks
- Provide constructive feedback to support students’ professional development
- Organise and deliver training sessions, workshops, or tutorials as needed
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and assessment outcomes
- Liaise with educational institutions, employers, and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with training requirements
- Support students in developing their clinical skills whilst emphasising patient care and safety
- Keep up-to-date with current regulations, best practices, and developments within dental nursing education
Skills
- Proven experience in patient care within a dental or healthcare setting
- Strong understanding of nursing principles, particularly within dental environments
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively engage with students and colleagues
- Proficiency in IT systems for record keeping and reporting purposes
- Organisational skills to manage assessments, schedules, and documentation efficiently
- Fluency in English, with the ability to clearly convey information and instructions
- Ability to motivate and support learners through constructive feedback and guidance
