Funeral Operative
Location: Essex
Salary: £26,000–£35,000 per annum, depending on experience

About the Role
We are looking for a professional, compassionate and dependable Funeral Operative to join our operational team in Essex.
This is a varied and hands-on position supporting the day-to-day delivery of funerals, deceased collections, transfers and care-centre operations.
The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring that every person entrusted into our care is treated with dignity and respect and that every funeral is delivered to the high standards expected by our families.
Key Responsibilities
- Bringing deceased persons into our care from private homes, hospitals, care homes and other locations.
- Carrying out deceased transfers and collections professionally and respectfully.
- Supporting Funeral Directors during funeral services.
- Acting as a bearer and assisting with the safe and dignified movement of coffins.
- Preparing hearses, limousines and private ambulances for daily operations.
- Assisting with coffin preparation and other funeral requirements.
- Supporting mortuary and care-centre operations where required.
- Delivering and collecting funeral-related items between our locations and external organisations.
- Maintaining excellent standards of vehicle, equipment and operational-area presentation.
- Completing identification, collection and operational documentation accurately.
- Supporting time-critical collections and operational requirements.
- Participating in out-of-hours and on-call duties where required.
- Representing The Heartfelt Funeral Company professionally when dealing with families, hospitals, care homes, local authorities and other organisations.
About You
You should be reliable, compassionate, physically capable and comfortable working within a sensitive environment.
Previous funeral industry experience is desirable but not essential for the right candidate.
A full UK driving licence is essential.

Salary within each advertised range will be determined according to experience, qualifications, responsibilities and suitability for the position.
