Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated Part-Time Market Stall & Food Preparation Assistant to start immediately, every Saturday, to support our vibrant market stall (Vietnamese food). This role involves assisting with food preparation, serving customers, and maintaining high standards of food safety and hygiene. The ideal candidate will have a passion for catering and culinary arts, with a friendly demeanour and a keen eye for detail. This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic food environment while contributing to the success of our market stall.
Duties
- Prepare a variety of food items in line with menu specifications and health & safety standards
- Serve customers efficiently and courteously at the market stall
- Collect, transport and unload food, equipment and supplies from our home kitchen to the market and return them after trading.
- Assist with setting up and packing down the stall before and after trading hours
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the food preparation area and equipment
- Ensure all food safety regulations are adhered to at all times
- Restock supplies as needed throughout the trading period
- Support in creating an inviting display to attract customers
- Assist with cooking tasks, including meal preparation where required
- Uphold excellent customer service standards by engaging positively with visitors
Experience
- Previous catering or restaurant experience is desirable but not essential; training will be provided
- Familiarity with food preparation, meal assembly, and kitchen safety practices is advantageous
- Experience in serving or working directly with customers is preferred
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and hygiene standards within a catering environment is beneficial
- A genuine interest in culinary arts, cooking, and food presentation is highly valued
Working Hours:
- Every Saturday, 9:00 am – approximately 4:30/5:00 pm.
- Occasional additional weekday hours for food preparation, by mutual agreement.
Pay & Employment:
- Paid at the National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage, depending on eligibility.
