Job Summary:
As a Commis Chef Prep cook, you will help the kitchen run smoothly by preparing ingredients and keeping everything organised, clean, and ready for production. This is a hands-on preparation role, supporting both the pastry and savoury chefs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and organise ingredients for the day (cutting, weighing, portioning, labelling).
- Store prepared items correctly and keep fridges and shelves tidy.
- Rotate stock, check expiry dates, and follow the kitchen’s storage system.
- Support the chefs by making sure everything is ready when needed.
- Help with ingredient orders once a week if asked.
- Keep the kitchen clean, safe, and follow food hygiene standards.
- Report if anything is missing or running low in the fridges or storage.
- Follow the preparation lists and instructions given by the chefs.
Essential Criteria:
- Level 2 certificate in food and hygiene
- Basic kitchen prep experience.
- Able to stand and work in a busy production space.
- Must follow hygiene and safety rules in the kitchen
Requirements:
- Previous experience in a kitchen, bakery, or food production environment
- Good understanding of cleaning and hygiene standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Strong work ethic and team player attitude
- Flexibility to work early mornings, weekends and bank holidays
