The Reindeer, Hoveringham & SHIO Street Food
We’re looking for a Prep & Street Food Chef to join the team at The Reindeer, our food-led village gastropub in Hoveringham.
This is a hands-on role for someone who enjoys working in a busy kitchen, takes pride in preparation and organisation, and wants to be involved in both The Reindeer kitchen and our SHIO Street Food trailer.
The Role
You’ll work closely with our Head Chef and kitchen team, helping us maintain high standards of preparation and service across both sides of the business.
Your time will be split between daily prep and service at The Reindeer, as well as helping to run and develop SHIO, our Japanese-inspired street food concept.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Preparing ingredients and components for daily service
- Supporting the kitchen team during busy services
- Preparing sauces, marinades, pickles, garnishes and other kitchen components
- Ensuring prep is completed accurately and on time
- Maintaining excellent food hygiene and kitchen standards
- Helping with stock rotation, deliveries and kitchen organisation
- Working alongside the Head Chef and wider kitchen team
- Assisting with service at The Reindeer when required
- Preparing and serving food from the SHIO street food trailer
- Helping with set-up, service and close-down of SHIO
- Maintaining consistency, quality and presentation across both menus
- Contributing ideas and helping us develop new dishes and specials
About You
We’re looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about food and keen to learn
- Organised, reliable and hardworking
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen
- Confident with basic food preparation and knife skills
- Able to work independently but also as part of a team
- Clean, tidy and takes pride in their work
- Positive and enthusiastic during busy services
- Interested in modern British food and Japanese/Asian-inspired street food
- Keen to develop their skills and progress within the business
Previous professional kitchen experience is preferred, but we’re more interested in finding the right person with the right attitude and willingness to learn.

Hours & Pay
20–40 hours per week, depending on availability and experience.
Pay: £12.50–£15.00 per hour, depending on experience.
Weekend and evening availability will be required.
