About the Role:
We are looking for a motivated and reliable Engineering Assistant to join our engineering team within a busy manufacturing and production environment.
Working alongside experienced engineers, you will support the day-to-day maintenance of production machinery and equipment, helping to ensure the site operates safely, efficiently and with minimal downtime.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop their engineering skills and gain valuable hands-on experience in a modern manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
· Assist engineers with planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across production equipment.
· Support engineers with breakdowns, fault finding and repairs.
· Carry out basic mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks under supervision.
· Assist with machine changeovers, adjustments and equipment set-ups.
· Complete routine inspections and report any faults or potential issues.
· Help maintain engineering workshops, tools, equipment and spare parts.
· Assist with lubrication schedules and routine servicing.
· Support engineers during planned shutdowns and maintenance projects.
· Ensure all maintenance work is carried out safely and in accordance with company procedures.
· Complete maintenance records, job sheets and relevant engineering documentation.
· Maintain good housekeeping standards within the engineering and production areas.
· Follow all company health & safety, hygiene, quality and environmental procedures.

Experience & Qualifications
Desirable:
· Previous experience in a manufacturing, engineering or maintenance environment.
· Engineering qualification or apprenticeship, such as Level 2 Engineering or Maintenance.
· Basic mechanical or electrical knowledge.
· Experience using hand tools and engineering equipment.
· Understanding of planned preventative maintenance.
However, full training will be provided for the right candidate.

You don’t need to know everything from day one. We are looking for someone with the right attitude, willingness to learn and a genuine interest in engineering.
You will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers, developing your knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems, preventive maintenance, fault-finding, and production equipment.

Shift patterns
Hours are on a Rota based shift pattern.
Currently we are working a 24/7 Rota comprising of 12.5 hour shifts. e.g. 06:00-18:30, 18:00-06:30. Shift pattern will be 4 on 4 off - 4 days, followed by 4 days off.

Salary: Depending on Experience
Pay: £26,000.00-£32,000.00 per year
