The role:
Assistant Psychologist required for a permanent post/secondment in a Tier 3 CAMHS team. CAMHS is undergoing significant investment to better meet the needs of children and young people with moderate to severe mental health problems. It is an exciting time of innovation and change with lots of opportunities within CAMHS.
We are looking for an enthusiastic Assistant Psychologist to join with us on this innovative improvement journey. This post will provide support and enhance the professional psychological care of clients within Specialist Children’s Services, across all sectors of care; providing psychological assessment and psychological interventions under the supervision of a qualified professional Psychologist, working independently according to a plan agreed with a qualified psychologist and within the overall framework of the team’s policies and procedures. You will also assist in clinically-related administration, conduct of audits, collection of statistics, development of audit and/or research projects, teaching and project work. There are also opportunities for peer supervision.
Applicants will have an honours degree in Psychology at 2:1 or above and preferably prior relevant NHS experience and experience of working with young people and their families/carers.
You will join a group of 70-80 Psychologists working with children and young people in a variety of settings with good professional support and supervision, plus strong working relationships with other disciplines and agencies. The service has strong links both with the University of Glasgow Doctorate in Clinical Psychology and the University of Edinburgh MSc Course in Applied Psychology for Children and Adolescents.
All other roles will be assessed for sponsorship eligibility in line with current Home Office requirements. NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) can only issue a Certificate of Sponsorship (CoS) where these are met.

Shift pattern for this post are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm
Key responsibilities:
- To demonstrate highly specialist clinical knowledge of highly complex paediatric conditions and infant mental health and an understanding of the rationale and evidence base for interventions strategies

To act as clinical specialist in specific field including contributing to audit and research, current practice and provide expert advice and guidance to colleagues.

In collaboration with Infant Mental Health Team devise and implement protocols and pathways within your specialist field.

To be professional and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work including the management of patients in your care.

To maintain at all times a high standard of care and to support less experienced and junior staff to do likewise.

To utilise highly specialist clinical and reasoning skills acquired through in depth experience or postgraduate study in this field

To evaluate your current practice through participation in clinical effectiveness projects, audit and use of outcome measures.

To contribute to the development of care pathways and clinical networks.

To provide a highly specialist point of contact regarding the service development issues for the purposes of clinical supervision and staff development.

To maintain accurate clinical records and current documentation in line with the requirements of the Royal College of Occupational Therapists, Health Care Professions Council and in line with NHS GG&C AHP Documentation standards.

To communicate with relevant disciplines and agencies in the form of reports and letters and to comply with NHSGGC policies regarding Data Protection.
