Longcliffe is seeking an HGV Workshop Manager to lead our workshop operation and play a key role in maintaining the performance, safety, and efficiency of our fleet while supporting the continued growth of the business.
To fulfil the requirements of this exciting role, you will be able to:
Lead and develop the workshop team to maximise performance, engagement, and productivity.
Manage workshop KPIs, monitor performance, and drive continuous improvement initiatives across the operation.
Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities and operational efficiencies without compromising quality or safety.
Audit suppliers and contractors to ensure value for money, service quality, and compliance with company standards.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry legislation, compliance requirements, and best practice within the HGV sector.
Take ownership of workshop budgets and deliver strong financial performance through effective cost control and resource management.
Identify and support new business and commercial opportunities that contribute to business growth.
Drive efficiencies and cost savings across the company's fleet operations.
Build a high-performance culture, motivating the team to achieve objectives and exceed performance expectations.
Accountability
The HGV Workshop Manager will report directly to the Transport Manager.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
· Compliance with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
· Leadership, development, and management of the workshop team.
· Achievement of workshop performance targets and KPIs.
· Management of workshop budgets and cost control measures.
· Planning and coordination of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.
· Monitoring fleet availability and minimising vehicle downtime.
· Identification and implementation of operational improvements.
· Supplier management, auditing, and contract performance reviews.
· Ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, DVSA requirements, and company standards.
· Managing workshop resources, tools, equipment, and facilities.
· Supporting wider business objectives through commercial and operational initiatives.
· Producing accurate management reports and performance data.
· Promoting a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.

Essential Experience
· Proven experience managing an HGV workshop, fleet maintenance operation, or similar service environment.
· Experience leading and developing teams.
· Budget management and financial accountability experience.
· Demonstrable success in driving operational improvements and efficiencies.
· Sound knowledge of HGV maintenance requirements and industry compliance standards.
· Full UK driving licence.
