Support Worker - Emergency Duty Team

When a crisis cant wait until morning, our Emergency Duty Team is there.
We are looking for a compassionate, resilient and motivated Support Worker to join our dedicated out-of-hours service, supporting residents across the five Tees Valley local authorities. This is a unique opportunity to work alongside experienced Social Workers and partner agencies, helping vulnerable children, adults and families access urgent support during evenings, weekends and bank holidays.
What youll be doing
As a Support Worker within the Emergency Duty Team, youll play a key role in ensuring people receive the right support when they need it most.
Working closely with Social Workers and partner agencies, you will:
- Respond to calls from members of the public, professionals, partner agencies and emergency services.
- Arrange emergency accommodation, hotel bookings and transport for people requiring immediate assistance.
- Coordinate emergency food parcels and essential supplies for vulnerable individuals and families.
- Liaise with key partners including Police, Health Services, Housing providers and voluntary organisations.
- Maintain accurate electronic records and provide administrative support to ensure a responsive and effective service.
- Accompany Social Workers on home visits, welfare checks, and other emergency interventions when required.
About you
Were looking for someone who remains calm under pressure, communicates effectively and is passionate about supporting people through difficult situations.
Youll ideally have:
- A qualification in Business Administration, Health and Social Care, or a related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience of working with vulnerable individuals, families or within a customer-focused environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Good IT skills and confidence using electronic recording systems.
- The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Sound judgement and the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Most importantly, youll bring empathy, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping people during times of crisis.
