Are you passionate about education and committed to helping children and young people reach their potential?
We’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated Teachers / Tutors to join the team at Figure of Eight Education, supporting learners across both our Tuition Centre and Environmental Centre.
Our students often thrive outside of traditional school environments. As a Teacher / Tutor, you’ll provide personalised learning and build positive relationships with students, helping them develop their academic skills, confidence, independence and resilience.
You’ll work with students one-to-one and in small groups, delivering engaging and personalised learning across a range of subjects and abilities. Alongside classroom-based learning at our Tuition Centre, there may also be opportunities to incorporate practical, creative and outdoor learning at our Environmental Centre.
We support primary, secondary and post-16 learners, including students working towards GCSEs, Functional Skills and other recognised qualifications. We also provide alternative education programmes for young people who may struggle to engage with traditional mainstream education.

What you’ll do
- Deliver engaging and personalised lessons to students on a one-to-one or small-group basis
- Teach across Key Stages 2, 3 and 4, depending on your experience and subject specialism
- Support students with English, Mathematics and/or other relevant subjects
- Develop and adapt lesson plans to meet individual learning needs and educational goals
- Assess and monitor student progress and adapt teaching strategies accordingly
- Build positive, trusting relationships with students and create a safe and encouraging learning environment
- Support students who may have additional educational, social, emotional or behavioural needs
- Use creative and flexible approaches to re-engage students who may have struggled within traditional education
- Support learners working towards GCSEs, Functional Skills, ASDAN, AQA Unit Awards and other appropriate qualifications
- Communicate effectively with team leaders, families, schools and other professionals regarding student progress
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, learning and student progress
- Contribute to individual learning plans and wider educational programmes
- Encourage students to develop confidence, resilience, independence and a positive attitude towards learning
- Where appropriate, incorporate practical, creative and outdoor learning into students' programmes at our Environmental Centre
- Promote safeguarding, positive behaviour and a safe, inclusive learning environment
What we’re looking for
- Experience working with children or young people in a teaching, tutoring or educational support role
- Strong subject knowledge in your area of specialism
- Experience teaching or supporting learners across Key Stages 2, 3 and/or 4
- A genuine passion for helping children and young people achieve their potential
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A patient, calm and nurturing approach
- The ability to adapt teaching methods to meet individual learning needs
- Experience or an interest in supporting children and young people with additional educational, social, emotional or behavioural needs
- Confidence working both independently and as part of a small, supportive team
- A creative and flexible approach to education
- Relevant teaching or education qualifications are desirable, but experience and the right approach are equally important

Our Tuition Centre – providing personalised academic learning, tutoring, mentoring and targeted educational support.
Our Environmental Centre – an outdoor learning environment where students can develop practical skills through horticulture, nature, woodcraft, cooking, environmental projects and hands-on activities.
We work with students who may have experienced difficulties in mainstream education, and our team plays an important role in helping them rebuild confidence and discover that learning can be positive and rewarding.

Please note: Positions may be term-time only, with salary paid pro rata to the school term-time working year.
