Bakery Barista – Fold, Ilford

Fold is a fresh bakery and coffee business focused on making genuinely great-tasting, premium products.
We make our cookies, cinnamon buns and doughnuts on site from scratch. Our Ilford shop is a small, open bakery where customers can see products being prepared and baked throughout the day.
We’re looking for an experienced Bakery Barista to join the team. This is a varied, hands-on role combining bakery production, coffee-making and customer service.
The role
You’ll be responsible for:
- Making cookies, cinnamon buns and doughnuts from scratch
- Weighing, mixing, shaping, proving and baking products
- Following recipes and production plans accurately
- Maintaining consistent quality, appearance and portion sizes
- Preparing espresso-based coffees, matcha and other drinks
- Serving customers warmly and efficiently
- Setting up and maintaining an attractive bakery display
- Monitoring stock and completing daily preparation
- Keeping the bakery, equipment and customer areas clean and organised
- Following food-safety, allergen and hygiene procedures
This isn’t a traditional back-of-house bakery role. You’ll move between baking, making drinks and serving customers, often within the same shift.
There will also be periods of lone working, so you must be confident working independently, managing your time and taking responsibility for the unit while working alone.
About you
Previous hands-on bakery experience is essential. You should be comfortable making products from scratch and following recipes without constant supervision.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Has practical experience working in a bakery or bakery-production environment
- Can produce consistently high-quality products
- Is organised and confident managing a production list independently
- Takes pride in working cleanly and safely
- Is friendly and comfortable speaking with customers
- Remains calm and efficient during busy periods
- Is reliable, punctual and comfortable with some lone working
- Is willing to work across baking, coffee and customer service
Barista or customer-service experience would be helpful, but bakery experience is the main requirement.
