Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of cost control, budgeting, and financial planning for Painting construction projects. This role requires a proactive approach to ensure projects are completed within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The Quantity Surveyor will collaborate closely with project managers, contractors, and clients to deliver cost-effective solutions and optimise resource utilisation.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects from initial design through to completion.
- Monitor project costs throughout the construction process, ensuring adherence to budgets and identifying potential overruns early.
- Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and verify quantities of materials used.
- Negotiate contracts with contractors, ensuring favourable terms while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to each project.
- Provide advice on cost-saving measures without compromising safety or quality standards.
- Collaborate with project teams to develop procurement strategies that optimise resource allocation.
- Prepare comprehensive reports on project financial status for senior management.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the painting or construction sectors.
- Strong expertise in cost control, budgeting, and financial management of projects.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Plan swift, project+, or equivalent tools.
- Good understanding of construction processes, materials, and legal frameworks related to contracts and procurement.
- Strong communication skills, capable of negotiating effectively with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
- Relevant qualification such as RICS accreditation or equivalent is preferred but not essential.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
