The Role
We are looking for a Kitchen Assistant / Cook to join the team at BG’s Café.
This is a varied role supporting the day-to-day running of the café, from preparing and cooking fresh café food through to serving customers and handling cash.
Key Responsibilities
- Preparing and cooking a range of café food to a high standard
- Preparing ingredients and keeping the kitchen clean, tidy and well organised
- Serving customers at the café counter in a friendly and professional manner
- Taking customer orders and handling cash and card payments accurately
- Replenishing food and counter displays throughout the day
- Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and health & safety
- Supporting the wider café team with the smooth running of the service
- Following food hygiene and company procedures at all times
About You
We are looking for someone who is:
- Friendly, approachable and customer focused
- Reliable and able to work well as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a busy café environment
- Confident preparing and cooking food
- Comfortable handling cash and taking customer payments
- Organised, with good attention to detail
- Able to maintain high standards of cleanliness and food hygiene
- Flexible and willing to help wherever needed
Previous experience in a café, kitchen or catering environment would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.
Salary: Minimum Wage
Hours of Work
3 days per week, working between Monday and Sunday on a shift pattern.
- Working hours: 8.30am – 5.00pm
- You will be required to work 1 in 3 weekends
- Additional weekend working will occasionally be required to support special events, such as Christmas Fayre, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.
