Male Community Support Worker (Bank & Part-Time)

Essex Respite & Care Association (ERCA) is a compassionate, community-based charity providing high-quality support services across Essex. We are currently looking for dedicated and reliable Male Community Support Workers to join our friendly team in West Essex on a bank or part-time basis.
This is a rewarding opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of adult male service users living with a range of support needs, including dementia, Parkinson’s disease, acquired brain injuries, neurodivergence, and mental health challenges.
Please note: This role involves providing one-to-one support to male service users. Being male is considered a Genuine Occupational Requirement in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
About the Role
You will provide person-centred support to adult male service users in their homes and within the local community. Your focus will be on promoting independence, confidence, wellbeing, and social inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting individuals to access community activities, sports, hobbies, and social groups
- Assisting with shopping and everyday tasks
- Accompanying service users to medical, therapy, or other appointments
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and life skills
- Providing tailored support based on individual needs, goals, and interests
- Building positive and professional relationships with clients.
- Providing a sitting service and companionship.
Please note: This role does not involve personal care or medication administration.

Previous experience in a support worker, care, community, or mental health setting is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided.
Essential Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be male (Genuine Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010)
- Hold a full UK driving licence
- Have access to a vehicle and be willing to travel across West Essex
- Have business-use vehicle insurance
- Have the right to work in the UK
- Be willing to undergo an Enhanced DBS check
- Be available to work Monday to Friday
