Birchwood & Co are looking for compassionate, reliable and experienced Complex Care Support Workers to join a dedicated team supporting an older gentleman with complex care needs in his own home in Central London.
This is a rewarding opportunity to become part of a small, established team delivering high-quality 2:1 support, enabling our client to continue living safely and independently in his own home.
This is a long-term opportunity supporting one gentleman within a consistent care environment, allowing you to build a trusting relationship, understand his individual needs and provide truly person-centred care. You'll become part of a dedicated team where continuity, consistency and teamwork are at the heart of everything we do.
You'll have the opportunity to get to know the client, understand his routines, preferences and goals, and play an important role in supporting his wellbeing while helping him maintain the highest possible quality of life.
Due to the continuity this package requires, we are looking to recruit 2–3 Complex Care Support Workers who are committed to providing long-term, consistent support and becoming valued members of the client's wider care team.
Please note that this role involves regular moving and handling activities and can be physically demanding. Applicants should be comfortable undertaking these duties as part of a 2:1 care package.
Hours & Shift Pattern
Successful applicants will be contracted for a minimum of 25 hours per week.
Typical shifts are:
- Day Shift: 8:00am – 8:00pm (£18.00 per hour)
- Sleep-in: 8:00pm – 8:00am (£100 per sleep-in shift)
Alongside your contracted hours, there will be regular opportunities to significantly increase your earnings by covering the Team Leader's annual leave. This will typically involve working 24-hour shifts for approximately one week each month.
Additional hours are also regularly available to cover annual leave, sickness and other planned absences within the wider team. Applicants seeking additional hours beyond their contracted hours are likely to have frequent opportunities to do so.
Flexibility to provide additional cover when required is highly desirable.
The Role
Working as part of a dedicated 2:1 team, you will provide high-quality, person-centred care tailored to the client's individual needs.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing high-quality, person-centred support.
- Supporting with personal care and all aspects of daily living.
- Assisting with mobility, repositioning, transfers and moving and handling.
- Supporting with meal preparation and nutritional needs.
- Promoting independence, dignity and choice.
- Working closely with family members and the wider multidisciplinary team.
- Supporting the client to participate in meaningful activities and maintain the highest possible quality of life.
- Maintaining accurate daily records using PASS, our electronic care management system.
About You
We're looking for someone who:

- Has previous experience working within health and social care (complex care experience is desirable but not essential).

- Driving also preferable
- Ability to cook meals for the client when required
Additional requirements
- Due to the role location in London, potential candidates need to be able to get access to Sloane Square station underground’ (nearest station)
Physical Requirements
This role involves supporting an individual with complex physical care needs and includes regular moving and handling activities throughout each shift, including assisting with transfers, repositioning and supporting mobility.
Full moving and handling training, specialist equipment and ongoing support will be provided. Applicants should be comfortable undertaking the physical aspects of the role safely and consistently as part of a 2:1 care team.
Compliance
As part of this role, all staff are required to accurately use our electronic care management system (PASS). This includes logging in and out of every shift, completing daily care records and maintaining accurate documentation. These records form an essential part of the client's care and our regulatory responsibilities, so attention to detail and accurate record keeping are essential.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience working within health and social care.
- A caring, professional and reliable approach.
- Ability to undertake the physical requirements of the role.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Willingness to work day shifts, sleep-in shifts and additional cover when required.
- Right to work in the UK.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
