We are seeking an experienced, organised and commercially-minded Business Manager to join our thriving academy located just outside Central Birmingham.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an ambitious professional to play a key strategic role within the leadership team, ensuring the academy operates efficiently and effectively while supporting outstanding outcomes for students.
The successful candidate will oversee the academy's financial management, HR administration, operational services and compliance, helping to create an environment where staff and students can flourish.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the academy's financial planning, budgeting and monitoring.
- Produce accurate financial reports and forecasts for senior leaders and governors.
- Manage payroll, procurement and contract negotiations.
- Oversee HR processes including recruitment, onboarding and personnel records.
- Ensure compliance with health & safety, safeguarding, GDPR and statutory requirements.
- Manage facilities, premises, maintenance and site contractors.
- Develop and improve operational policies and procedures.
- Support strategic planning alongside the Principal and Senior Leadership Team.
- Line manage administrative and support staff.
- Identify efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high standards.
About You
We're looking for someone who has:
- Previous experience in a Business Manager, School Business Manager or Operations Manager role.
- Strong financial management and budgeting experience.
- Excellent organisational and project management skills.
- Knowledge of HR processes and employment legislation.
- Confidence managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience within education is desirable but not essential for candidates with strong commercial and operational backgrounds.
