Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Shuttering Carpenter to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing and installing formwork for concrete structures on various building sites. This role requires a strong understanding of carpentry principles, safety standards, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Duties
- Construct, install, and dismantle formwork for concrete structures according to project specifications and safety guidelines
- Measure and cut timber and other materials using hand tools and power tools to create accurate formwork frames
- Ensure formwork is level, plumb, and secure before concrete pouring begins
- Operate welding equipment when necessary to reinforce formwork structures
- Assist with the handling and positioning of heavy materials using appropriate lifting techniques or mechanical aids
- Collaborate with other trades such as masons, roofers, and general labourers to ensure smooth workflow
- Maintain a clean and organised worksite, adhering to health and safety regulations at all times
- Perform routine inspections of formwork components for damage or wear, replacing or repairing as needed
Skills
- Proven experience in carpentry, with specific knowledge of shuttering techniques and formwork construction
- Proficiency in using hand tools such as saws, hammers, chisels, and levels
- Competence with power tools including drills, grinders, and nail guns
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to construction equipment operation and maintenance
- Ability to weld metal components securely when required for reinforcement purposes
- Familiarity with roofing principles is advantageous for multi-trade coordination
- Physical strength for heavy lifting and manual handling of large materials over extended periods
- Experience in masonry work is beneficial for integrated project tasks
- Valid driving licence suitable for commercial driving duties is desirable but not essential
