JOB TITLE: Behaviour Change Specialist- Smoking Cessation
SALARY: £28,000 FTE
LOCATION: South Cambridgeshire
HOURS: 37.5 hours
ABOUT THE ROLE
This isn't just a desk job. You'll be out in communities — in GP surgeries, pharmacies, schools, hospitals and specialist services — guiding people through one of the most meaningful changes they'll ever make.
As a Smoking Cessation Behaviour Change Specialist at MoreLife UK, you'll be each client's dedicated point of contact, delivering evidence-based stop-smoking support and helping them build healthier habits around physical activity, nutrition, alcohol and stress.
Around 80% of your week is client-facing: one-to-one sessions, drop-in clinics and group support, both in person and remotely. The rest is outreach, training community advisors, and tackling health inequalities with priority groups — including young people, maternity clients, and people living with mental health conditions.
If you're someone who thrives on making a real, measurable difference in people's lives and wants a role with genuine variety and community impact, this is it.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Deliver tailored stop-smoking and harm-reduction interventions (one-to-one, group and remote)
- Provide pharmacological and behavioural advice in line with NICE and NCSCT guidance
- Support clients using varied forms of tobacco — including vaping, shisha and chewing tobacco
- Assess readiness to change, manage complex cessation cases and ensure thorough follow-up
- Run outreach activities and smoke-free homes initiatives across the community
- Mentor volunteers and primary care staff, and deliver professional training sessions
- Support smoking prevention work with children and young people
- Maintain accurate electronic client records and meet KPIs
- Work flexibly to meet demand — some evening and weekend work may be required (TOIL provided)

- Strong planning, organisation and client engagement skills
- Able to travel between sites across Cambridgeshire with required equipment
- Non-smoker or ex-smoker
Desirable:
- Qualification in health promotion, health psychology or health inequalities (or equivalent experience)
