Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Construction Site Manager with proven experience delivering heritage, conservation, and high-quality refurbishment projects. This key role is responsible for the overall management of site operations, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme, and to the highest standards of quality.
The successful candidate will oversee daily site activities, coordinate specialist trades and subcontractors, and manage sensitive works including masonry repairs, roof restoration, decorative sash and casement window treatments, external scaffold works, and heritage or commercial fit-outs.
The ideal candidate will have strong construction management experience, excellent leadership skills, a detailed understanding of traditional building methods, and a passion for preserving and enhancing historic buildings. Key Responsibilities
- Take overall responsibility for day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Manage and coordinate site teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and specialist trades.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, including CDM Regulations and company procedures.
- Work closely with Project Managers, clients, consultants, and suppliers to maintain programme delivery and resolve site challenges.
- Prepare, maintain, and review site documentation, including progress reports, permits, inspections, and quality records.
- Monitor project progress and provide regular updates to the wider project team.
- Carry out regular site inspections to ensure workmanship meets project specifications and heritage standards.
- Manage site logistics, materials, deliveries, and specialist works coordination.
- Support the planning and delivery of specialist elements including joinery, finishes, conservation works, and bespoke materials.
- Lead toolbox talks, site briefings, and ensure a positive health and safety culture is maintained.
Qualifications & Experience
- Proven experience as a Construction Site Manager delivering refurbishment, heritage, conservation, or specialist construction projects.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage teams, subcontractors, and multiple site activities.
- Excellent understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and building regulations.
- Knowledge and experience of traditional building methods and sensitive refurbishment works would be advantageous.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders.
- Experience using construction project management software; knowledge of Primavera P6 would be advantageous.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver projects within challenging programmes.
- Strong focus on quality, safety, and attention to detail.
Qualifications
- SMSTS certification.
- CSCS Black or Gold Card.
- First Aid qualification.
- Ideally hold IPAF and PASMA certification.
- Experience working within occupied buildings, heritage sites, or listed properties.
