House Manager – Benview Guesthouse
Salary: £40,000–£46,000 per annum
What We’re Looking For
Benview Guesthouse is looking for a new House Manager to join our growing team.
Since opening in 2025, our focus has been simple: provide a welcoming and comfortable experience for our guests while creating a positive, professional workplace for our team.
We are looking for someone who is outgoing, dependable and confident communicating with both guests and staff. Previous hospitality or management experience is preferred, but it is not essential. We place greater value on a professional attitude, strong work ethic, common sense and a genuine willingness to learn and progress.
As a relatively new and growing guesthouse, we are not tied to overly rigid structures. We want someone who can take ownership of the role, contribute ideas and grow alongside the business.
Key Responsibilities
Guest Experience
Greet arriving guests and provide a warm, professional welcome to the Scottish Highlands. Assist guests throughout their stay and help ensure they leave with a positive experience of Benview Guesthouse.
Team Communication
Maintain clear day-to-day communication with all team members, ensuring everyone understands their responsibilities and that the guesthouse operates smoothly.
Guesthouse Standards & Maintenance
Regularly inspect the guesthouse and maintain high standards across guest rooms, communal areas and facilities. Identify areas that require improvement or maintenance and, where appropriate, carry out minor maintenance work or arrange and schedule contractors for larger works.
We actively welcome initiative. If you see something that could be improved, we want someone who is prepared to suggest a solution and help make it happen.
Booking & Reception Management
Manage guest reservations, booking systems and day-to-day reception duties. Respond professionally and promptly to guest messages, emails and general enquiries. Actively seeking out new way of increasing bookings.
Staff Rotas
Plan and manage staff rotas based on occupancy and operational requirements. Communicate schedules clearly with the team and make adjustments when necessary.
Problem Solving & Guest Emergencies
Although emergencies are rare, situations can arise that require quick decisions. The House Manager should be comfortable thinking on their feet, remaining calm and deciding on the most appropriate course of action.
