We are a busy, patient-focused GP surgery committed to delivering high-quality healthcare services to our local community. We are seeking an experienced and highly organised Senior Administrator to join our team and play a key role in supporting the smooth and efficient running of the practice.
The Role
As Senior Administrator, you will provide leadership and administrative support across the practice, ensuring effective management of patient records, clinical correspondence and day-to-day operational processes. The successful candidate will have extensive experience using EMIS and a strong understanding of primary care administration.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and coordinate administrative functions within the practice.
- Act as a senior point of contact for administrative staff, providing guidance and support.
- Manage and process clinical correspondence, referrals, and patient registrations.
- Maintain accurate patient records using EMIS Web.
- Monitor and manage practice workflows, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and within agreed timescales.
- Support clinicians with administrative requirements and patient communication.
- Produce reports and data searches using EMIS as required.
- Assist with compliance, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Handle confidential patient information in accordance with GDPR and NHS policies.
- Support the Practice Manager with operational and administrative projects.
- Assist in the training and development of administrative staff on practice systems and procedures.
Essential Criteria
- Previous experience in a senior administrative role within a GP practice or primary care setting.
- Advanced working knowledge of EMIS Web.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality, information governance and GDPR requirements.
Desirable Criteria
- Experience supervising or mentoring administrative staff.
- Knowledge of NHS contractual requirements and primary care processes.
- Experience with workflow management, recalls and reporting within EMIS.
- Understanding of QOF, enhanced services and other primary care performance frameworks.
