Your Role
This is a great opportunity to be part of a friendly and busy team. As a Technician Engineer in the Feasibility and Client Team, you will be working in a multi-disciplinary team on a wide range of highway schemes and you will be involved in all aspects of project development from inspection, investigation, feasibility and detailed design, public consultation, cost estimates, report writing, project management and construction. Our projects range in type, value, size and complexity from major road schemes, junction improvements, crossings and traffic calming to cycling and walking networks. You will be assisting in the delivery of these projects to a high standard within timescales and budgets and in accordance with the Council’s Corporate Objectives. You will be working with internal and external stakeholders, including residents and local Councillors.
Key Tasks:
- Assist with feasibility studies and feasibility design for schemes from initial concept to business case submission

Carry out site visits and gather site information over all areas of the Borough

Undertake, request and analyse surveys and site investigations.

Assist with the preparation of pre-construction information and any key design information, including risk assessments

Produce public consultation materials and attend public consultation events.

Assist with the preparation of Area Committee Reports

Assist with the management of projects
About You
We would love to hear from you if you:

Have an interest in computer design skills, including wanting to learn to design using AutoCAD.
- Have a driving licence to facilitate site visits (Pool Car available)

Have an interest in Civil Engineering, Highway Design or Transport Planning.

Can work in compliance with the Council’s policies and procedures and meet the Council’s Corporate Objectives.

Good communication skills to enable you to respond to project related queries and to take part in public consultation events.

Demonstrate individual initiative and self-motivation with the ability to organise and prioritise your workload.

Can work collaboratively and within multi-disciplinary teams.

Can be an enthusiastic member of a hardworking team with a desire to progress in the role.

You are prepared to undertake training and professional development.
- Able to showcase continued improvement in the role.
- Able to get out and about in the Borough to undertake site visits.
