Are you a practical, reliable individual with a passion for maintaining safe and welcoming environments? Parklands Care Home is looking for a dedicated Maintenance Operative to join our team and help ensure our residents enjoy a comfortable, secure, and well-maintained home.
About the Role
As our Maintenance Operative, you will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the care home, ensuring that all areas are safe, functional, and presented to a high standard. You will play a vital role in supporting both residents and colleagues by responding promptly to maintenance needs and carrying out planned preventative maintenance.
Your responsibilities will include:
Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the home
Completing weekly, monthly and annual checks on systems and equipment
Monitoring and responding to fire alarm systems, boilers and lifts
Maintaining internal and external areas, including gardens, car parks and grounds
Undertaking minor repairs, decoration and basic plumbing tasks
Ensuring all health & safety and fire safety checks are completed and accurately documented
Ordering, managing and monitoring maintenance stock and deliveries
Communicating effectively with colleagues to support safe and efficient operations
Supporting new staff inductions by providing guidance on fire safety and building layout
Maintaining confidentiality and working in line with policies and procedures
Proactively identifying issues and providing practical solutions at short notice
You will play a key role in creating a safe, secure and pleasant environment for residents while ensuring compliance with health, safety and fire regulations.
About You
We're looking for a reliable and resourceful maintenance professional who takes pride in their work.
You will ideally have:
Strong organisational skills with confidence using digital systems to maintain accurate compliance records and ensure statutory checks are completed on time
Proven experience in property or building maintenance
Basic plumbing knowledge and strong general DIY skills
A proactive approach with excellent problemsolving abilities
Good attention to detail and organisational skills
A caring, patient and professional attitude
The ability to work independently while supporting a wider team
Experience in a care or residential environment is desirable but not essential.
