The pupils you will be working with are in Years 1 and 2 but are currently working at an Early Years level. We are looking for someone who understands that every child develops at their own pace and who can create engaging, accessible and purposeful learning experiences that build confidence, independence and progress.
The role
Working closely with our SENCO, the successful HLTA will help lead and deliver targeted learning sessions for pupils with a range of additional needs. You will support children to develop their academic, communication, social and emotional skills through carefully adapted and highly engaging activities.
You will:

- Work closely with pupils who are working significantly below age-related expectations.
- Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and developmental levels.
- Provide a nurturing, structured and inclusive learning environment.
- Support pupils' communication, social and emotional development.
- Encourage independence, confidence and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, the SENCO and other support staff.
- Monitor pupils' progress and contribute to assessment and planning.
- Help create engaging learning experiences that reflect an Early Years approach where appropriate.
- Build strong, positive relationships with pupils and celebrate their individual achievements.
We are looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children with SEN and/or additional needs.
- Has experience working with children at an Early Years or developmental level.
- Is confident leading learning sessions and working independently.
- Is patient, calm, nurturing and emotionally intelligent.
- Has high expectations while recognising and responding to individual needs.
- Can adapt their communication and teaching style to support different learners.
- Is creative and able to make learning engaging and accessible.
- Works well as part of a wider team and is keen to work closely with the SENCO.
- Is committed to helping every child achieve their potential.
Why join us?
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced HLTA who is passionate about SEN and inclusive education and wants to have a genuine impact on children's lives.
You will be joining a supportive school community in Blackheath, working closely with an experienced SENCO and a team who are committed to ensuring that every child feels valued, supported and successful.
If you are an enthusiastic and compassionate educator who believes that every child can learn, develop and thrive with the right support, we would love to hear from you.
