The post holder will be an experienced nurse within cardiology, promoting
and providing a high quality service throughout the patient journey, for
patients and their families.
The post holder will be required to work effectively within a small team.
The post holder will provide services including nurse led clinics and
consultant led arrhythmia clinics, telephone clinics.
As a member of the heart rhythm team contribute towards the coordination,
management and facilitation of the cardioversion service.
The post holder will provide specialist advice and will be a point of access via
the patient telephone helpline for arrhythmia patients.
The post holder will provide education, counselling, and support to patients
with a variety of arrhythmias.
As a member of the heart rhythm nurse team assist in the provision,
supervision & co-ordination of the drug provocation service.
To provide support for an existing inherited cardiac conditions service
Identify new areas of development.
The post holder will liaise with healthcare teams in primary, secondary and
tertiary care to support systems and facilitate the referral and management of
patients with arrhythmias.
The post holder will provide expert clinical advice and support / supervision to
nurses and members of the multi-disciplinary team and act as a role model.
The post holder will represent the multi-disciplinary team both locally and
nationally by presenting at courses, conferences, and increasing public
awareness.
The post holder will demonstrate skill at interpreting complex clinical
information / data, and actioning. Be accountable for the direct delivery of care to a caseload of patients,
involving independent cardiac assessment.
Be a defined point of contact for patients / carers providing clinical care
specialist nursing advice and psychosocial support.
Work collaboratively and in partnership with other healthcare professionals,
offering specialist advice to colleagues.
Provide a complete discharge package for arrhythmia patients, including
referral to other agencies and provision of high quality educational literature.

Contribute to the development of specialist nursing knowledge and skills to
enhance and extend the practice of other nurses and health care
professionals within the service.
Organise and contribute to relevant educational programmes and in house
study days.
To develop and maintain a peer network of support, information and learning
with other specialist practitioners at local and National level.
